Mac OS X 10.1.3 update seeded to developers
By Nick dePlume, Publisher and Editor in Chief
Sources report that the first pre-release build of the 10.1.3 update to Mac OS X was provided to developers this week. This is the next minor revision to OS X, anticipated last year when we reported on delays of the next major release, version 10.2. The seeded build is labeled 5Q28.
10.1.3 will address a variety of issues while also including several notable updates and enhancements. These will include expanded support for CD burners from QPS, EZQuest, LaCie, Yamaha, MCE Technologies, and Sony, and also improved digital camera support for several models from Canon, Kodak, and Sony. There will also be improvements in security, including SSL encryption support in Mail and login authentication support for LDAP and Active Directory services. While the number of bug fixes does not appear to be as large as in 10.1.2 -- the release which preceded it was notoriously buggy -- 10.1.3 will incorporate quite a few, particularly to fix bugs with URL Access and iTunes sleep.
The update was pulled from Apple´s software seeding servers early in the day, but was re-posted this afternoon.
