Detta med port forwarding...

Jag har en trådlös router, en Zyxel någonting. Antar att modellbetäckningen inte spelar den helt stora roll för svaret på min fråga. Det är nämligen så att jag gärna skulle vilja konfigurera port forwarding, t ex i samband med Torrents, men också i o m den inbyggda webb-delningen etc. Jag är inte särskilt haj på trådlösa utstyr överhuvudtaget, så jag behöver lite hjälp här. Jag har loggat in på min router och gått igenom varenda del i menyn, men lyckas inte nånstans hitta något som jag skulle kunna tänka mig ha med port forwarding att göra! För att ge ett mer specifikt exempel på vad jag vill åstadkomma postar jag här en tråd från ett annat forum:

1. LOGIN TO YOUR ROUTER
First login to your router, typically most all modern routers use a standard web interface and IP number, so launch a web browser window and eneter the routers IP address/number which should most likely be "http://192.168.0.1/"

You might get a "login" window, enter your name and password, if this is the first time logging into your router try entering "admin" for the name and "password" for the password. if you still can't login you'll have to refer to your routers manual or visit the routers site online for login instructions.

2. ADD SERVICE (Normally under a "security" section/link)
Once successfully logged into your router look for something like "Add Service" which may be under a "Security" header/link. Enter/click "Add Service" section you may see a list with names like "FTP" "HTTP" and even some game listings like Quake, MOH so on and so fourth.

You will need to "Add" a custom "Service" there should be a "Add Custom Service" button/link, click on it. Now you will probably see a forms page with a few empty fields and maybe a pull down tab. Here is what I set up: (comments are in parenthesis do not type):

- NAME: (blank field, I entered/typed) Torrent
- PULL DOWN TAB: (I selected) TCP/UDP
- START PORT: (I entered/typed) 6881
- FINISH/END PORT: (I entered/typed) 6999

Once you have entered the above info hit "Apply" or "Save." Congrats you now have made the "Torrent Ports" available, but they are not active yet . . .

3. ACTIVATING PORTS (Normally under "Advanced" section/link)
You now need to activate the Torrent ports you just entered. Normally you will do this under an "Advanced" section/link of your router. Go to Advanced" and you should also see "Ports" section/link and go/click on it.

A Ports form page should load, you will now need to add the Torrent "Service" you previously created. Click on Add button and select/enter the following info: (again, comments are in parenthesis do not type)

- SERVICE NAME: (pull-down tab, I selected) Torrents (Which is what I just created previously)

- ACTION: (pull-down tab, I selected) ALLOW Always

- LOCAL SERVER ADDRESS: (Here you will enter your machines IP number, which you can find by going to "Sytem Preferences" and clicking/selecting "Network" icon under the 'Internet & Network" pane, should be close to something like "192.168.0.2") 192.168.0.2

- WAN USERS ADDRESS: (If you have more than one local machine on yer LAN you would like to set up Torrents seeding and D/L from enter the IP range below, example follows):

- START: 192.168.0.2

- FINISH: 192.168.0.8

- LOG: (I selected) Never

Now hit "Apply" or "Save." Sit down, shut-up or scream, and hold on

5. HOLY FRIGGIN' CRAPOLLA!!!
Once you have entered the above info click/select "Apply/Save" and Voila! Launch your Torrent client/application, (I currently use "Tomato Torrent"), You should now be able to go from a sad/paltry 1-5k D/L speeds to you routers/network's limit. I current can get up to 300kps!!! on certain Torrents, yeah baby!!! Typically average D/L speeds are now in the 6k to 80k range, just depends on how many seeders there are and their individual network configs.

The above info should work for most users on a LAN network using a modern router. This info was based on a NetGear 8-port router, model FVS318.

Kan det vara möjligt att man inte kan göra port forwarding med just denna router? Jag fick den med när jag i höstas beställde bredband hit till Danmark, och det är ett snabbt bredband med de som levererar det snabbaste bredbandet i Danmark, så man tycker ju inte att man bara borde få den billigaste trådlösa routern...

Tackar för tipset, men på denna modellen är det ganska tydliga menyer, så jag har i a f inte missat det på det sättet...

Men baah! Där fanns det! I en undermeny som jag helt missat! Nu är så frågan om man kan lyckas få det funka..

Så här ser det ut. Vad menar de med "Server IP Adress" ? Skall det vara IP-adressen som man dator har?

Jag testade att skriva i mitt IPnummer där, och nu gick farten i bittorrent från ca 0,5 kb/s till flera hundra! Något jag undrar över är hur detta med portar funkar.. Alltså, i det bittorrentprogramemt jag använder kan man bara välja EN port, och inte en range av portar. Betyder det då att man får sämre hastighet än om man skulle använda ett program som kan använda flera portar?
