Fungerar 6 eller 8 GB RAM i Alu iMac?

Som frågan lyder så undrar jag om man kan maxa minnet ännu mer i Alu iMac:arna med Santa Rosa chipsetet än 4 GB? (Dvs alla alu iMacs:s). Frågan såg jag på Macbook forumet som hastighast men jag undrar om det är nån som har egen erfarenhet av det? Läste att 8 GB på en MacBook gjorde att operativet "såg" minnet men programmen blödde för mycket i det och kunde inte accessa det och hur som haver så gick datorn slöare och slöare för att sen dö helt. Vanligtvis när en dator inte kan accessa med RAM så ser den bara maximalt vad den kan och struntar i resten.
8 GB hade varit intressant, men även 6 GB. Maxat ram är trevligt.
Känns ju inte som att man vill köpa 4 gigs moduler "bara för att..." även om dom är så billiga.

"Thanks to ayeying's testing of a 4 gb module, I bought an 8 gb SO-DIMM kit and installed it in my 2.4 gHz MBP/Santa Rosa. All 8 gb are seen and for the half-hour or so that I've been using it there have been no problems. I notice no performance lag or the such (if anything, it seems a bit snappier).

I have not tried Parallels or Fusion, which seem to cause a problem for one blogger.

If there are any 64-bit apps available for free or demo that would be a fair test of 64-bit memory mapping, I'd be happy to run them to test the memory.

But so far, it sure looks like a MBP - and probably MB and iMac - built on Santa Rosa can utilize 8 gb of RAM.
