quote:UT2003 Macintosh Status Update
This week we´ve been showing UT2003 on Macintosh OS X (10.2 ) at Macworld at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco. The response to the game has been awesome. Mac users seem to be very enthusiastic about UT2003! Its great to see new Apple hardware coming out with decent graphics support built in and the OS X development team keeping on top of the OpenGL extensions required for high-end games like ours. I was very happy to learn that the two new laptops they introduced during the keynote address both have Nvidia GeForce 4 mobile chips in them! I´m looking forward to trying our game on one of them as soon as possible.
We´re showing a very early alpha version which still has a few bugs and performance issues but overall plays very nicely. It has all the features of the PC version of UT2003 with the latest 2166 patch. What is left to do is squashing some bugs, doing some performance optimizations and testing it extensively.
The big question people were asking me yesterday at Macworld was "when?". That totally depends on how testing goes but we´re not quite ready to put it into testing yet. My estimate is that we´re about 6-10 weeks from shipping but remember, this is just an estimate. I expect we will be releasing a demo before the retail release, probably in beta form, so we can get bug and performance feedback.
