After all the bad press B&B have received from their chiidish comments on exiting the Mac developer market I had a look at this app out of curiosity.
First of all, with all the great (and free) developer tools Apple provides there is no excuse for applications that are this inept and look this bad - these guys have no idea how to design an interface and this looks like a Hypercard stack from 1986.
Secondly, virtually everything in here can be easily located with Google - this stuff that can't be is stuff you probably don't need to know. Aside from that, how many times have you had an error code in OS X? I've had one in the PrintCenter and that's it.
Thirdly, the price is ridiculous - $29 for the standard version is $29 too much, but $129 just for the addition of the ability to export the error code text out....!!! You could buy a real application for that. $5 would be a fairer price for the "pro" version. Plus after reading his website who'd want an overpriced redundant application that is no longer being developed? Additionally, how can an "application" get to v.10 and look this bad? At least Rice could have exited with a bit of dignity by thanking former customers - instead he has made himself a laughing stock in the Mac community
Apple doesn't need developers like this - in fact, no platform does. I'd say that staff at Apple are still probably laughing at Gary Rice, his website and his "applications
