Unfortunately we have gotten no final answer from Apple. Numerous of people have reported that this is a software issue and an OS update will fix the problem, while others, like me, have got the answer "I highly suspect this is a hardware issue" from Apple, but that they cannot confirm it. We are in a very frustrating position and the only advice I can give to you at the moment is to KEEP ON CALLING APPLE and tell them that you cannot accept this waiting time. What you might expect as a response is that you will be able to return your PowerBook and get a refund, or wait for a few weeks until the MacBook Pro is out. If you are satisfied with a MacBook Pro instead, I highly suggest you demand a new computer or a refund, BUT for those who want to keep their PowerBook G4, I guess you will have to wait for a few extra weeks (or even more?).
