Maintenance Utilities
1. How do I recover missing tracks on my iPod?
If you inadvertently run multiple iPod programs at once, they could overwrite each other's changes and cause some tracks to "disappear" from the iPod's browse menus, even though the actual music files are still on the iPod. To recover these missing tracks, right-click on the systray icon and select "Anapod Manager Options". On the iPod options page, click the "Recover Missing Tracks" button.
2. How do I fix mislabeled tracks on my iPod?
If you inadvertently run multiple iPod programs at once, they could overwrite each other's changes and cause some tracks to become "mislabeled". When mislabeled tracks are played, they play back audio from a completely different track. To fix these mislabeled tracks, right-click on the systray icon and select "Anapod Manager Options". On the iPod options page, click the "Fix Mislabeled Tracks" button.
3. How do I rebuild my iPod's database from scratch?
In certain situations, you may wish to rebuild the iPod's database entirely, without actually reloading your music files onto the iPod. Only advanced users should use this procedure.
1. Backup your playlists: To preserve your playlists, use Anapod Explorer to create backups you can use to reconstruct them later. Right-click on any playlist in Anapod to backup.
2. Disconnect from Anapod: Disconnect from the iPod and exit Anapod Manager.
3. Backup your current iPod database: Go to My Computer, open your iPod's drive letter and browse to the folder X:\iPod_Control\iTunes. This folder is normally hidden, so type this path into the Address bar of Explorer to open it directly. Copy the file "iTunesDB" to your PC for safe keeping.
4. Delete the old iPod database file: After backing up your "iTunesDB" file, delete it from the iPod.
5. Rebuild the database: Start Anapod Manager again and connect to your iPod. Go to "Anapod Manager Options" in the systray icon, then under "iPod Devices" options run the "Recover Missing Tracks" maintenance utility. This will rescan all the music on your iPod and rebuild a new "iTunesDB" file.
6. Restore playlists.: If you made playlist backups, restore them now.
